Vern & Pete’s Support Ride

Below is an update from Vern & Pete regarding their ride in support of the WMS Fighting Fund.

Despite WMS being forced into bankruptcy the ride is still going ahead – because we are not going to rollover and give up. After what has happened it is more important than ever that it goes ahead. Before anyone starts about you’re not going to raise enough to save the show – it wasn’t about that. We never thought we would raise thousands by any means but we believe in Steve, Dai and Err, don’t like what’s happened and wanted to do something positive to help out. What we are doing is not illegal – so they can’t stop us and if enough people get behind us and support us it will show that people do actually give a f&&k and people will take notice. The whole reason we came up with the JOG to Lands End non stop idea was because it isn’t going to be easy to do. This is a much as we can do that we can fund ourselves and I’m sick of being asked how much of the donations we are going to use to fund the trip – once again– nothing. If we were funding the trip out of the donations at present we wouldn’t even get to f**kin Inverness.

Some people have asked how we are going to prove we did it. When we start, every time we stop for fuel and when we get there we are going to send pictures to our good mate Stevie who is going to post them up. One of the magazines has offered to help with this as well. More than that I don’t see what we can do short of GPS trackers and that sort of stuff but that costs more money than we have got and to be honest if people want more proof than that they can f**k themselves. A fair few have said that they will donate after we have done it – fair enough, one of us could break down or have an accident etc and might not make it. At the end of the day we are just a couple of ordinary bikers who want to ride our bikes in support of other bikers who in our opinion have been severely shat on and it’s something that other bikers can support and make them what did the shattin take f**kin notice. A few have asked if they can do a stint with us – buy all means – all we ask is that you are not on your own because if you are and you have a problem we will have to stop as well to help you and we haven’t got time. Times are hard at the minute and we appreciate that and if you can’t afford a donation then give us a wave or something – 10 hours in, just having pissed down our legs again because there wasn’t enough time at the last stop we’ll appreciate any support. At the end of the day when the dust has settled and the ride is over and we have raised f**k all and another dozen rallies have been cancelled at least we can say that we had a f**kin go.

We would like to thank all the people who have donated to our ride and the RAG fighting fund it is genuinely and deeply appreciated. We would also like to thank Garry from Farcanal for providing us with the T-Shirts, our club for all their support and last but by no means least our brother Stevie One Bloke One Tune – Sorry Mandolin for offering to stay up all night and post the pictures when we send em.

WMS forced into Bankruptcy

It is with a heavy heart that I have to report this.

After all that has happened, the beuracrats have won.  WMS Ltd are being forced into liquidation

Below is a statement from Steve Bennett.

“The Herefordshire Council Licensing Department will not issue a Premises Licence without the application going before a full committee meeting. They will not hold the meeting until the 10th of August. The licensing committee might then grant the license, grant the license with conditions or refuse the application. This is four days before we are due to open the show. I cannot borrow the £16,000 needed for the advance deposits that need to be paid between the 1st and the 7th of August given this problem.

Without this show I cannot clear the company debts caused by the 2008 cancellations. The company is therefore in breach of company law. I have asked the company accountant to start the process of bankrupting the company. I apologise to all those people who have lost money because of this decision.”

THE POINT OF THE RIDE IS TO RAISE AS MUCH MONEY AS POSSIBLE FOR THE FIGHTING FUND WHICH IS BEING LOOKED AFTER BY THE RALLY ACTION GROUP WHICH WAS SET UP TO HELP OUT WELSH MOTORCYCLE SHOWS.

NON-STOP

WE WILL ONLY BE MAKING FUEL STOPS WHICH ARE LIMITED TO A MAXIMUM OF 15 MINUTES, THERE WON’T BE ANY ADDITIONAL STOPS TO EAT, DRINK OR ****.  THIS WILL BE DONE DURING THE 15 MINUTE FUEL STOPS IF THERE IS ANY TIME LEFT AFTER FUELLING UP.  VERN WILL BE DOING THE RIDE ON HIS XJR AND PETE WILL BE ON WHATEVER HE’S GOT WORKING THAT WEEK – NONE OF WHICH ARE WHAT YOU WOULD CALL CRUISERS.

RAG Comment – In light of what has happened to Steve once again, the monies this run will help raise is needed more than ever.  If you feel as strong as we do, and as Vern & Pete do then, please, donate the price of a pint, or the price of a brewery if you feel the need to and help us re-establish Wales’ best Motorcycle Show and fight the bureaucrats that are trying to stop us from being able to party.

RIDE RULES

1. THE ONLY STOPS WILL BE FOR FUEL AND WILL LAST NO LONGER THAN 15 MINUTES
    
2. NO ADDITIONAL STOPS WILL BE MADE TO EAT, DRINK GO TO THE TOILET OR ANYTHING ELSE, THIS WILL BE DONE DURING THE 15 MINUTE FUEL STOP IF THERE IS ENOUGH TIME.
    
3. BREAKDOWNS:          IF THE BIKE CAN BE REPAIRED BY THE SIDE OF THE ROAD THE RIDE WILL CONTINUE AS SOON AS THE BIKE IS REPAIRED.  IF THE BIKE CANNOT BE REPAIRED BY THE SIDE OF THE ROAD THE RIDE WILL STOP UNTIL THE BIKE AND RIDER ARE COLLECTED BY A RECOVERY TRUCK.  THE OTHER RIDER WILL THEN CONTINUE THE RIDE ON THEIR OWN.
    
4. ACCIDENTS:        IF EITHER RIDER ARE INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT THE RIDE WILL STOP UNTIL IT IS CLEAR THAT BOTH THE RIDER AND THE BIKE ARE OK, THE RIDE WILL THEN CONTINUE.  IF EITHER RIDER IS INVOLVED IN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT THE RIDE WILL BE ABORTED.

POSTPONED – THE HEREFORD RACECOURSE MOTORCYCLE SHOW

It is with a heavy heart that I have to give this news.

DUE TO HEREFORDSHIRE COUNCIL LICENCE REGULATIONS AND THE HEREFORD RACECOURSE CONDITIONS THE SHOW ON THE 5TH AND 6TH HAS TO BE EITHER POSTPONED OR CANCELLED.

Once again Steve and WMS have been left high and dry

They are looking for an alternative date, maybe in August (I will bring details of this if it happens)

 

But for now, the Rally on June 5th & 6th is OFF

If you feel that this is complete bullshit of the highest order, then place your mark on the petition to help Steve and WMS get some justice via the Prime Ministers office.  We need as many votes as possible, so forward this to all forums, email it friends, add it to facebook, whatever you can to get it to the masses.  Here is the link –

I’m pretty sure that most of the people reading this have tapped their foot, sung along with, shouted or danced to this track at some time at a rally or show somewhere.

The question is “Would you really”?

We are, and it’s bloody difficult.

We have had a lot of support and help so far. I won’t try and name everyone because I would probably miss someone out and that would be insulting.

Unfortunately a lot of people have claimed their 2008 their advanced ticket money back through either Paypal and Cardnet.
I now owe both of these systems money and they are both now closed to me.
I sent letters to everyone who bought advanced tickets explaining the situation.
I have tried to keep people informed with other letters and articles and interviews and E/mails.
Some people apparently either don’t care or aren’t prepared to wait.

I have NOT been contacted by either the BMF or by MAG, (despite being an ex regional rep for MAG) neither have I been offered any practical help or support by either organisation.

So why am I writing this?

I would like to ask everyone who cares about our fight to put on bike shows to

If all the people who have enjoyed our shows donated the price of a pint then we would have enough money pay the deposits and “pre show expenses” needed to put together a show.

So far our applications to hire venues for a 2009 show have been turned down by 19 venues.

The best excuses so far have included, “We are always busy on that weekend, and we wouldn’t be able to fit you in”

“We have some serious site improvements to do”
(Which doesn’t seem to be affecting any other event on that showground)

And the all-time classic
“We are in Dyfed-Powys which might cause us a problem”

Fund Raising Opportunity, Great Night In!!!

Do you want your own personal concert and do your bit for the demise of the rally scene?

Well, here is your chance.

As another way to raise the badly needed funds for the WMS fighting fund, Stevie (One Bloke, One Mandolin) has generously offered himself to the cause.  THe way this works is that you invite your friends and family to a get together at your home or arrange it with a local pub where you ask for a small donation of say £10 minimum per head.

Numbers should really be about 15-25 people at a house party (more if you want to ask a local boozer, but make sure there is an entertainments licence) and you can be sure of a good night of brilliant acoustic music.

It’s up to you how you want to work the night, whether just tea and coffee, or a small party with bring your own beer and a few snacks.

We have got hold of more merchandise from Steve & Dai from WMS.  We hounded them for anything they had remaining.  Due to a demand for the Welsh International Motorcycle Show 2008 metal badges, we had sold out, but we have got more now.  We also have a limited supply of Welsh International Motorcycle Show Bandanas, Beanie Hats and Baseball Caps, as well as Metal Badges and Cloth Patches from the 2007 & 2008 Isle of Anglesey Motorcycle Show.

Thanks to ALL who have contributed

RAG has sent the first cheque to WMS Ltd.’s solicitors.  Steve asked for a cheque for £500 to be sent to them last week.  The ball is finally rolling and it’s all thanks to the monies donated by bikers all over the Country.  The total in the account before the cheque was issued topped £1000.

Obviously, this is never going to be enough to pay for the case, this fight could go on for a long time, so if people could populate the forums with the weblink below and help us raise as much as possible for this cause, we at RAG, Steve Bennett and all at WMS Ltd., will be truly thankful.

There is a page in the right hand column on how you can write to your local MP, the more people who can write letters to these people the better.  The government hate the word DISCRIMINATION, and as a minority, we bikers have to fight for our rights.  If we were black, or Asian, or we were being discriminated against because of disablity or sex, then the Country would be up in arms, however, it makes no difference, we are being discriminated against because of our mode of transport.  This needs to be put across.

RAG Cymru goes National

Due to the call for a group to protect our right to hold rallies and shows throughout the whole of the UK, RAG Cymru will now be known as RAG UK. There will be a new website to cover this very soon. Personal Membership will initially be £5.00 with options for other membership (including traders) to be added in due course. A membership page will be added very soon, so keep coming back here for updates.

Our force at the moment is with Steve and the guys from Welsh Motorcycle Shows, but if anyone else has any similar issues with other shows, please let us know by emailing enquiries@rag-cymru.co.uk (new UK email address will be put here soon). Please bear with us while we do this switch over and any baby steps and hiccups while we get things up and running.
